#38 - Click the thumbnails below for full-size pictures:
#38 has a pear shape, inspired by the Croatian folk instrument the Tamburitza Prim (pronounced "preem"). Grover geared tuners. Set up for "low-G" tuning, to take advantage of the better bass response the relatively large sound board gives. The book matched back, the sides, and the neck are sycamore. Walnut finger board & bridge. Nice clear quarter sawn fir top. Sounds very, very good. Note: If you look closely, a repaired split can be seen about 1/3 of the way across the heel of the neck. This was caused by weathering on the end grain of the log it was cut from. It has been reinforced with a dowel glued through top to bottom (not visible) - it ain't going anywhere :-)
