#46 - Click the thumbnails below for full-size pictures:

#46 is a prototype/proof-of-concept piece - a "banjolele" built around an off the shelf drum head. This one uses a Stagg 6" fixed-tune tambourine, with the jangles removed. It's made so that the tambourine portion can be removed to be re-skinned (or just replaced) if that ever becomes nessisary. The only modifications to the tambourine are a single screw hole for the neck end joint, and four holes for the string anchor points (well, and removing the metal jangle thingies)

I've been playing it constantly for a couple days and I really like it! Definitely has that banjo flavor to it rather than ukulele :-)

Fits nicely inside a soporano uke gig bag; should fit any soprano hard case too, I would think.

Is there any interest in such a beast? Should I make some more? I'm thinking around a hundred and fifty bucks or so... Please let me know - dave at waverlystreet dot com.
