The fret board position dots, which appear to be thin inlays, are actually bits of 1/8" dia white plastic rod. First, drill out the dot holes in the fret board a bit deeper into the neck, being careful not to go through the neck :-). Dress the end of the rod square and smooth with a disk sander and cut off a short piece (about 1/4" long). Repeat 5 times. Using a sharp stick, place a little dollop of glue in the dot hole:

Then insert the plastic piece and press it home with the edge of a straightedge. Resist the temptation to use your finger, as this will push the piece in too far (which you will find really, REALLY annoying :-)).
